This is a wonderful restaurant with amazing food, atmosphere, and location. The outdoor bar is perfect for those walking in off the beach or for pre gaming. We got lucky not having a reservation, but I recommend getting one. The food was delicious, very casual pace for our meal and pleasant service.
This was by far our best meal in Key West. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Pictured is the steak tartar, scallops, swordfish, lambchops, filet, cocunut pie, key lime pie, and flourless chocolate cake. Our server, Millie, was attentive and took great care of us.
A clever set up for a restaurant/bar, right on the dog beach. The bar is right on the water, and behind it is layed in uneven levels (at least three), the outdoor seating area, on top of that, on the second floor, there are options of very private tables, with great ocean view. We sat at the bar, for the sunset and we only had an appetizer (Grilled shrimp, octopus & garlic sausage with cannellini beans & citrus Bnga Cauda!) which was delicious and fancy, as it's name, and a couple glasses of wine. We enjoyed the location, the atmosphere, the great service, and the great food and wine.
A gem of a restaurant! We ate at Louie’s twice during our trip we loved it so much. The main restaurant downstairs was fabulous, but it is the cafe upstairs that is the shining star! Blondie and Charlotte were incredibly friendly and made our meal so enjoyable by going above and beyond. But the food!! Each dish was somehow tastier than the next, and the drinks were fantastic as well. Don’t miss the truffle fries with Gouda (seriously, don’t!) or the key lime pie (don’t listen to anyone who doesn’t have this ranked #1 on their list!). And you can’t beat their incredible view from both restaurants and the bar. We would travel back to key west just to have one more meal at Louie’s!
Made reservations and we were immediately accommodated. The ambience is upscale, romantic and adorable. The service was good. Not superior. The staff was very friendly, but may have been overwhelmed, and small details were missed like returning after the food was served to see if anything was missing (like my knife that had been cleared with the appetizer). I'm still giving it 5 stars because it's not a Michelin rated restaurant, it's a Key West Beach restaurant, so I didn't expect immaculate service. I expected high end "Key West" style treatment, which I absolutely got. I recommend it. My dining partner couldn't stop talking about the Madeira Sauce on his steak all weekend. I got the shrimp and grits, which I was told, has been a house favorite for 35 years. How can you not try the house favorite? Overall it was lovely. It's not a place to catch the sunset, since it's at the Eastern end of the island, even though it's outside. You can catch the ambiance of the sunset, but you will not see the sun setting directly.
Delicious lamb chops, filet and NY strip. Great atmosphere. Tables on the water or inside in the AC. Make reservations. Costly but a great experience.
The most adorable little place on a beach with great views and great service. I got in as a walk-in because someone didn’t honor their reservation and as a solo traveler, I had the cutest little solo table with the ocean view. That was amazing and JR. My waiter was amazing and the drink was amazing and I could not finish the cause. It was so strong five stars all around
Louie’s Backyard did not disappoint for us! Amazing views from the outdoor dining area. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable of the the menu options. We had the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp as an appetizer which were even better than they looked. Mahi Fish Tacos were fabulous for a lite lunch meal. This place will be on our list for a return visit the next time we visit Key West. Thank you Louie’s Backyard for a fantastic experience!
